ARISTA Requirements
There are many opportunities in school to obtain service credit. Many students do not realize how important it is to obtain credit until they want to apply to ARISTA, Bronx Science's National Honor Society, and at that point it is too late. Below is a list of the different services and the credit you receive for each. All students must obtain an average 70 credits for each term in order to enter ARISTA, either the second term of their junior year or the fist term of their senior year. You must also have at least 10 credits per term from the SCHOOL SERVICES and the STUDENT GOVERNMENT columns to fulfill ARISTA requirements. In May or June students will have their activity sheet signed by the teacher in charge and have their credits entered. It is advised that students make a copy of this sheet for their own records. Once in ARISTA the members are required to tutor twice a week in school, do two service projects each term, and have 70 additional service credits including 10 from the SCHOOL SERVICES and/or the STUDENT GOVERNMENT columns. If you might be interested in ARISTA you need 90 or above average, but do not let a lack of credits deter you. Start earning credits now; join teams, clubs, government, or whatever interests you! Note: If you help out with the entrance exam, you will receive credit for a full day's assistance (About 7 hours, from 7:30 - 3:00).
