The Holocaust Museum & Studies Center of the Bronx High School of Science was begun by Founder Dr. Stuart S. Elenko in 1978. We were one of the very first Holocaust Museum/Libraries to open in the United States. Today this Holocaust resource is recognized as one of the most significant Holocaust Programs in the nation. To date, this program has been visited by over 58,000 visitors from around the world. The Center's collection of original and important Holocaust documents, diaries, photographs, letters, posters, books, uniforms, autographs, and Holocaust related artifacts is internationally acclaimed.

Our Mission

This program has continued over our history to be a major prototype in the creation of new Holocaust museums and programs throughout the world, and was an early significant resource in the creation of both the National Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C., and the New York City Museum of Jewish Heritage and the Holocaust in Battery Park.

Our museum has been recognized for its outstanding work, amongst others; by Gideon Hausner, the deceased Chairman of the Board of Yad Vashem Memorial in Israel, Israeli Prime Ministers Menachem Begin and Yitzhak Shamir, Dr. Lou Levine, Director of collections and exhibits, The New York City Museum of Jewish Heritage and by famous Chinese dissident.
