The Effects of Music

Music has a great number of effects on the human mind and body. Music has a large effect on mothers during the childbirth. It can leave someone feeling rejuvenated and healthier, or it may leave someone feeling worse than they were before. Music can eliminate pain sensation by distracting a person, or relax you when you’re stressed out. One particular study deals with “The Mozart Effect”. It was discovered that classical music has the ability of increasing a person’s capacity for spatial reasoning.
With these ideas, music has the potential for being used for medicinal purposes in order cure depression, anger, or anxiety. It could be the start of a whole new line of doctors who specialize only in music therapy. However, there are limits to these experiments. It is said that different people may have different effects to music, for some violent or “hard” music, that is popular today (music such as rock), can actually have the opposite effect. This type of music can distract the listener and make it hard for them to focus on what they are trying to accomplish. This presents a problem because it means that people cannot benefit from the music they may actually like. As a result, if a person is not interested in classical music, this study may be of no benefit to him or her. However, it is a scientific fact, that whichever type of music a person listens to, there is some effect on the person, be it positive or negative, physical or mental.
