Iron Deficiency Enemia
Jesse Wang

(http://www.mcl.tulane.edu/classware/pathology/Krause/Anemias/NoFeRBC.html) In this picture above, there is an advanced form of iron deficient anemia which causes irregular shapes of red blood cells. (The purple cell is a White Blood Cell)

Babies, young children and adults can all suffer from iron deficiency. Experiments are done to test the behavior and intelligence of iron deficiency (ID) and iron deficiency anemia (IDA) babies and children, as compared to normal children. The results of the tests show that ID/IDA babies and children score lower than normal children. Placebos and iron supplements show positive results against severe iron deficiency anemia but NOT against mild or moderate forms of iron deficiency anemia. Another solution is to eat specific foods such as engineered “golden rice” and soy beans. Sadly, few people know the right kinds of food to eat and vitamins to take, thus making iron deficiency a worldwide problem.
