Help Needed: Forensic Scientist in High Demand

David Alvarez

Looking for a career? Take a look into forensic science. For years the United States of America has been in desperate need of forensic scientist, a serious problem that has been causing massive delays in circuit courts throughout the country.

The demand for forensic scientist is a result of the explosion of methamphetamine cases, which require chemical tests. Furthermore, the demand for DNA tests in criminal investigations places further burden on forensic scientists. Such frequent requests for chemical tests have caused major backlogs, especially in the Midwestern states which have a serious lack of trained forensic scientists. Suck backlogs reach into the thousands and have caused the cancellation of court cases and the release of suspected criminals.

It is clear that there is a great need for trained forensic scientists around the nation. Here is a profession that requires at least six months of paid training in a crime lab after stating work. For those who work in State crime labs there is a great sense of pride and satisfaction in contributing to a better, crime free society. High school graduates who are interested in pursuing a science in college should give a serious look into the forensic sciences. There is no doubt that there are great opportunities for those who are truly interested in this field.
