One of the most important pieces of evidence at a crime scene is the blood evidence. The manner in which the blood is found can tell you a number of things. The first questions that must be answered are, is it blood, what species did it come from and whose blood is it? Once those three questions have been answered, the investigators can go more in depth using the blood as evidence. Using the blood evidence, investigators can determine the what time the bloodshed took place, the amount of force that was used, the position of the victim and the criminal, whether the criminal used his/her left or right hand, and even which injury was the fatal one. The location and position of the blood can help establish the origin of the material. The size, shape and distribution can help reconstruct the events of the crime. The surface texture which the blood is one should be carefully noted when attempted to recreate the crime. Blood reacts to the multiple surfaces in different ways. For example, blood breaks apart more upon impact with a harder surface. Blood evidence is extremely important in helping investigators get a clear picture on exactly what happened during the crime.
