State of Colorado vs. Patsy Ramsey

Jesse Yang & Mini George

On December 26th, 1996, Jon Benet Ramsey was found murdered in the basement of her house. Now, almost 4 years later, a conclusion has been reached; the jurors have found Patsy Ramsey, her own mother, guilty of this horrific crime.

The case was brought into court on Friday, June 2nd, 2000. The prosecution team headed by Tara Trifon, presented a clear cut case with their focus on the ransom note, bringing in two handwriting analysts as expert witnesses, Chet Ubouski and Clint Van Zant. However innocent bystanders, like Stephanie Natale believe there was too much emphasis placed on "handwriting analysis" and not other, more crucial pieces of evidence like "the palm print on the door, the scuff marks, and the duck tape".
Yet jurors like the one Court TV reporter Jesse Yang talked with, Fahad Pervez, said there wasn't a question about it, all the evidence pointed towards Guilty! Defense Attorney, Janine Franciosa, declares that this case was handled with high level of unprofessionalism on behalf of the Boulder Police Department, and is making for plans to appeal!

Did Patsy Ramsey kill her daughter? If so was there enough evidence to convict her? The jurors seemed to think so. Patsy Ramsey has been convicted of second-degree murder. For now Patsy Ramsey, as well as the rest of the nation, await news about her sentencing and the appeal.
