I'll Be Seeing You by Mary Higgins Clark

Melanie Sakatos

While covering the story of a brutal stabbing, reporter Meghan Collins encounters a dead woman whose face is identical to her own. This catapults her into a horrifying web of treachery, where nothing is as it appears.

Meghan's father, Edwin, had died in a tragic bridge accident several months earlier although no evidence could be found; neither his body nor his car. Meghan's mother is therefore left unable to convert joint assets she needs to retain ownership of the family's Connecticut inn. Before his disappearance, Edwin Collins had cashed his insurance policies. Now in absentia, with no evidence of his death, he has become a suspect in a grisly murder.

Meghan's search to discover the identity of the dead woman, to find her killer, and to clear her fathers name becomes entwined with a feature news story she is doing on the Manning Clinic, an in-vitro fertilization center where women seek children denied to them by nature. The plot is compelling and the characters are striking. The novel ties diverse elements together and fills the reader with relentless suspense.
