Handwriting Analysis
Lelei Cheng
Handwriting analysis, like many other aspects of forensic biology, has become easier due to computer technology. A computer program was developed that made it much quicker to identify handwriting forgers. The program can examine handwriting samples from a large sample of suspects. There are twenty-two different writing characteristics that the program uses to compare and contrast the samples. The end result would be a list of the most likely offenders. The program however does not replace handwriting experts. The program only gets rid of the poor matches, therefore leaving the experts to work on the remaining matches. Although the program looks promising, it is too soon to judge how beneficial the program really is.
