DNA Urine Test Might Help Early Detection of Prostrate Cancer
Fahad Pervez
Prostate cancer is the number two cancer killer among men. Traditionally, prostate cancer has been detected through a blood test that measures for a substance called Prostate Specific Antigen that is present at higher levels when the prostate is cancerous. Doctors from Johns Hopkins University and the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia were able to detect a cancer- associated DNA change in the urine of men who had early stage prostate cancer. The researchers reported that the DNA urine test could also offer a useful tool for detecting early stage disease.
